road rage gets biker run over
« on: April 09, 2010, 01:36:38 PM »
This happened the other day, not too far from where I live & ride. Its been reported the biker isn't an upstanding citizen but the guy who ran him down didn't know that. Just remember them cars are way bigger & heavier.

Bad stuff.  But you just don't go picking a fight with Mike Tyson if you're Tony Pipsqueak.  What was the biker thinking?  There are times to just let things pass.  Not saying the car wasn't at fault - just saying the laws of physics don't take those kinds of sides.

Regardless of the bikers past and reputation.... and whether or not he started it...

The guy ran him over and fled the scene.

Would it be any different if some little 90lb wet guy was being harrassed by a body builder and he shot him?

Nope.

Totally needless and senseless.

I've had a few situations on the interstate were some idiot posed a threat, I've been lucky that I could back off and keep them in front of me. You never know when someone is about to snap.

Damn right!  He was charged with first-degree assault, Class B felony in CT.  Same as manslaughter 1st degree.

There is probably more to the story... It really sucks that the guy was hurt so bad.  One thing we riders have to remember...

pedestrian < scooter < motorcycle < car < truck < big rig < train

we are pretty low on the totem pole...

and look at the other story on the same page:  http://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/local-beat/Kids-Found-Outside-In-Diapers-Mom-Arrested-90367794.html

Dig the shirt!

My thing on that one was why arrest the mother when daddy was suppose to be home with them? Didn't the story say she was just getting home from work? Not defending the mother but why not charge dad to?

For Pete's sake.

The motorcyclist was trying to be a tough guy no doubt, not so tough now, but running someone over out of anger is just stupid, and the guy was 66, you would figure he'd be a little wiser than that.

I AGREE, The jeep driver was 66 years old and should have known better. What are people thinking now a days? :-\

I wouldn't care about picking a fight with a guy as long as I was not on a bike and he was not in a much larger vehicle.

I dunno something about running a dude over just because he is a jackass screams cowardly to me.

Ah, but it is not cowardly to pick a fight with someone old and decrepit?

It still amazes me how people in this forum can condemn an individual without even an attempt to garner all relevant facts.

I wonder, is temporary insanity only a feasible defense for the aged-challenged?

I don't care how old you are.... Or what you are pissed at....

Running anyone over in your car is cowardice.

Now if he was shooting at you, I could see that.

But a guy on a bike? and then drive away?

Sigh.... oh well.

Sigh.... oh well.

Why is using a car as a weapon deemed worse than any other choice of weapon?

And what makes "being in possession of a bike" immune from any blame or "deservedness".

Since we are all well deep into speculation.  What if the MC rider had just run over 12 school children and was heading toward the next school?  Is running the MC driver over with a car acceptable then?
What if the car drive knew for certain that the MC driver would show up at his home later with weapons and a gang?  Still not fair to take out the MCdriver with a weapon of his choice?
Why aren't lynch mobs more popular as a means of fair justice?

I think the only thing fair to say at this point in the gathering of facts, is that there was a serious lack of sound judgment by both parties.  And, that the media isn't privy to, or is not relaying all the facts needed for a jury to pass reasonable judgment.  The media is far more interested in relaying enough info to evoke an emotional response.  Aren't they good at that?

TT, no I would not pick a fight with a decripit old man. My response was to that t-shirt. I would probably never pick a fight with anyone in real life let alone an old man. I did some fighting in high school but that is where it should stay. Fighting anyone physically as an adult is just plain old stupid.

You can give what if's all day but the fact of the matter is the guy did not run over 12 kids. He was probably driving like an idiot and pissed the old guy off. Then he went off and ran him over.
