Its and older Channel islands longboard. I think it was called te M8. Havent been out on it too much lately. Good luck with the 836 swap.

Very nice project indeed.
Just to chime in on the Glyptal discussion albeit a little late, this stuff is pretty much industry standard in coating generator windings and has been since the 60's? I would say if it can stand up to the constant stresses in that environment for an extended time, it should be more than useful for inner case coating.

Question on the cafe seat- did you make it or was it a purchase? I've seen similar ones but none with the back exposed where you mounted your tail light.

Thanks for checking out my build. The seatpan is from airtech streamlining http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/vintage/vintageseats_round.htm. I fabbed up a taillight mount bracket to fit up unter the tail section.

Some minor updates. I was able to get the cam degreed with the help of a friend and a second set of eyes. While I have the bike torn apart I decided to do some clean up of the wiring and ship off my tins to Nvr2old for some fresh paint.

Yes TT, I am having member Nvr2old (www.meticulouspaint.com) redo the paint scheme for me. The initial paint job looked good but it was a "garage job" and I felt like it never did the rest of my build justice. I had a few opportunities to meet Larry and see his work in person an knew he was the person I wanted spraying my bike.

The paint will be similar in colors to what it is now just a bit different. I am giving Larry some artistic freedom with the paint so I am still not 100% sure on what the finished product will be. Nothing extreme.

Small update: I fired up the new engine last night and it took off after the second kick. Only issue is the #2 cylinder is not firing. I have narrowed it down to the carbs, the dyna 200 ignition is all good. #2 is getting fuel but still not firing, so today i will take the carbs off and check the float needle retainer clip direction AND the movement/float height of the carbs. I will also thoroughly clean all those moving parts as well as the idle circuit fuel/air passages.

Even running on 3 cylinders it sounds like a beast.

This may be a silly question, but what exactly was used to coat the inside of the cases? I was always under the impression that you didn't coat the insides of the cases with anything

One page back this was discussed. It is Glyptal and is specially made for the inside of cases and other engine parts. Been used for years.

It seems you got some troubleshooting advice. If it irons out the issue, I may be in business as well. Best of luck.

Yes Jim, it is glyptal and is specifically designed to treat the inside of engine cases ect. Read above.

I think I got everything ironed out with the carbs. They are still not completely tuned but all 4 are firing.

It does sound pretty mean. A bit more aggressive sounding than the previous 836.
