I read on the forum (Hondaman) the Diachi points have incorrect geometry, making adjustment difficult.
Are these what you are using?
Are you using old points that have the rubbing block worn down?
The feeler gauge placement is strategic. You need to fit at a post that helps the points open sooner. Place the feeler on the same side post post of the 1-4 points. Then re-gap the points, and then try the plate rotation for the timing again. Moving the plate closer to the cam should allow the points to open sooner.
Yes, you can file the slot for more travel. How much adjustment is available for the 2-3? If more than the slot extension, it should work.
