81 cb650 gauge help

I have an 81 cb650 however the tach is broken on it.  I was wondering if anyone knows if the tach from the 78 would fit onto an 81.  Please let me know if anyone has done this or if they know it will swap thanks.

a 78 what? 750? 550? there was no 78 650.

the tach from a 79 ought to fit, I think. Paging Dr. Soos...
