Earlier Turn Signals on 1976 CB750K
« on: April 12, 2010, 03:23:15 PM »
I haven't had any luck finding this topic on the boards yet, does anybody know if it's possible to use the smaller turn signals on a later year CB750? I want to mount them to the sides of my headlight bucket since I replaced the stock fork ears. The only thing that I'm wondering about is that my signals have two black leads while the older ones have just one. Is that a deal breaker? I posted a photo of the style of signal that I want to use. Thanks!

Yes, you can use those older style blinkers. If you go with yours which has one lead that will be the blinker only. You will not have a running light. You can go with that same style with the 2 leads and that will get you a running light in front too.

Any suggestions on how to get that style of light with two leads? The only ones I can find just have one. Thanks for your help!

The K4 blinkers have 2 leads and are the older style. At some point they changed over to having running lights ......Aftermarket ones may/may not. Check out Yamiya - they have older style aftermarket replacements.

Looks like the 72 blinkers have 2 wires each for the front...

The only issue I see with these is that they attach to the headlight ears. Maybe I can swap out the posts with the type that attach to the headlight bucket, though. There's a salvage shop out here, but they aren't open until tomorrow. Maybe I can track something down over there.

Yes, the blinker post will fit into the eBay ones Andy provided the link too. The eBay ones are shown with the rear blinker studs which you will not need. Let me give one bit of advise I found out recently. The short blinker stud is made for 1 wire. The longer blinker stud on the K4 is made to fit 2 wires. The way I found this out is my K4 came with the wrong short blinker studs. For me to get the 2 wires out of the stud I had to cut off one of the male wire ends. So just keep that in mind. Depending on what blinker stud you have there you may have to push the wires through first and then put the male bullet end on it.

K0/1 has the wiring to use later running light blinkers, so all can work (extra brown wire in the headlight bucket). The shorter posts are K0/1/2. K3 has the running lights with narrow posts and longer stem (sticks out further).  K3 posts work for two wires , as I have a K3 with running lights.

The K5/6/7/8 blinkers are much beefier. Seems the post are beefier too. Finding K0/1/2/3/4 posts should be easy.
