Just hang in there man, even though it sucks you gotta be positive for the wife right now. Keep your chin up and take it one day at a time brother.

well, more wonderful news. because we have a house worth more than 30,000 dollars and she makes 1100 a month there is no way at all she'll qualify for medicaid. I (her spouse) have not been able to hold a steady job since getting my neck broken in 2007, so she's supporting the 2 of us, the house and my cats on what is a pretty small amount of money. #$%*! #$%*! #$%*!  well i'm keeping up the positive attitude for my wife but folks i'm here to tell you it isnt going to be easy. between this and an upcoming court case (particulars to follow after it's over, assuming i live someplace where i'm allowed internet access) i'm having a hard time keeping it all together. sorry for the rant and negative attitude but i'm just disgusted with our state system right now. that and wondering how we'll pay what could possibly be 200-300k medical bill between the surgery and chemo, assuming we can get her surgery and chemo with no insurance and barely any money.

Go see your local senator or whatever it is in the states Bucky, thats the most disgraceful thing i have ever heard. At the moment she is earning nothing ......#$%*, i don't know what to say except your current health system is totally #$%*ED. Head up man and don't give up fighting for support....Become the poster boy for health care reform in your area, that should ruffle a few feathers....I'm sorry mate but just keep fighting.

Holly Crap!  Well, it really isn't a surprise is it?
It's just hitting us here a lot closer now :P

I'm sure I along with every other forum member here from a Country where we grew up with a med system in place, can never truly understand what this must be like?  Man.....?   If someone asked me for $300,000 I could come up with it, but It would be like starting at age 26 again? #$%*!

As said before, your senator, governor, Get on the phone. Crap!

Hopfully someone here who understands your US Medical System can direct you to an avenue that works.

Um Isn't Medicade a state run medical system that let bucky down?  The federal health care bill won't have anything to do with Medicade.  I find it appalling people are posting promotion of a health care bill from the same type of politicians that just let bucky down.

Bucky I will be praying for you and your wife to come through this.  It really goes to show the government and state have no problems kicking a man when he is down.
Maybe we can set up a donation thing if it's ok with the mods here?  I know it won't be a solution but couldn't hurt.

I'll bite my tongue razor, out of respect for this situation, for this is not the time or place for a discussion like that.

Bucky, I really hope everything works out for the best, I know times like these really put a strain on everything but you have got to keep your head up and hang in there man. It's times like these that should make all of us look at what is truly important in this life and reach out to help each other.

Prayer is a wonderful thing and plenty of good vibes are going up and coming at you. Here is a link to the SC Health and human Services Website. I think you may qualify under some of these guidelines. http://www.scdhhs.gov/incomeLimitations.asp

Next, if you belong to a Church go talk to the Pastor, most of them are very well connected and you never know who is in the Congregation or is related to someone important. Having dabbled in politics, this is how things get done. If she has Cancer she is automatically a disabled person by Federal Law. The Lord expects you to carry some of the load, so get busy.

Jeff, I just checked in and saw your update. Our prayers will continue for you.
I also have friends in SC and perhaps tomorrow night I'll have time to send a
few messages to see if anyone knows a plan for addressing your health care problems.
This sure sheds some more light on recent discussions but I'm not going there.

And best wishes for a speedy recovery from Jaffa and me mate. :)
