Hondamatic carbs swap question
« on: June 18, 2010, 09:50:44 PM »
I'm thinking of up-sizing the carbs on my '77 750A. Can anyone tell me if the throttle opener, that bumps the throttle when you shift out of neutral, will bolt right up and work with the bigger carbs from a K? Any other issues I should consider first?

Thanks

Not  sure about the carbs  on  an automatic, but I thought I would share   some kitty avatars.

Hopefully they animate properly with the 'additional options' feature...  Try Guiness Kitty again with photobucket.

It won't be a bolt up swap, the carbs are different. You could probably make it work by making your own linkage. Also the carb insulators and and air cleaner connectors are different. They would also need changed. The camshaft profile is also different.

My 77 Matic has early carbs and it runs fine. Gotta get earlier boots and it plugs right in. I don't have the throttle bumper upper on it so the idle is set a little bit higher to keep from stalling out.

If you strip some of the carbset, they can probably be bored.
I think the A has 24mm, the K has 28mm. I am sort of thinking that 26mm, may work better than 28mm.

Autos have trouble with simple changes.. all of a sudden it can go to barely rideable if you go to far with a change..
