blank key for 1978 CB 750 F3
« on: April 14, 2010, 05:19:05 AM »
Hey
I need a blank key.  I found one on eBay that says it's for a CB 750 F2.
Anyone know if the F2 and F3 keys are the same?

Does it have to be Honda? My locksmith cut one for my 78 for $3 last month.I was suprised they had them but she said they always have them. Try a few locksmiths.

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

Good info.
No I don't care if it says Honda.  I just need a couple spare keys.
I'll give our local locksmith a try.

Try a real locksmith not Home depot. Honda can get you keys also. They usually ask to see the title.

You can also check out Honda Keys...http://www.hondakeys.com/. And to answer your question, F2/3 are the same keys.

You were right on with the real locksmith.  No problems and it only cost $10 for 2 keys.

Thanks All.

It might be a dumb question but.....:

Did the locksmith make your "spare keys" using your current key? Or was he able to make them without using your current key? The reason I ask is I have  recently acquired 76 CB750A that came to me without a key....I cant open the tank or turn the ignition on. My 71 K1 key wont work......

Any suggestions?

The Cb750s are easy. Look between the Clocks and you will see two I think 10mm bolts maybe smaller. Undo them and you can pull the whole assembly up. On the side of the cylinder is a number, find a honda dealer or good locksmith and they can make a key.
If you want to work on the bike carefully remove the white plastic switch. You can just turn that switch and run and test the bike etc. To remove the seat for working on wiring etc, just take the cotter pins out of the hinge pins, knock out the pins, and that's it. Not high security. I think there are less than a dozen key combos anyway.
