78 550 carb probs
« on: April 19, 2010, 03:15:15 PM »
I just synced the carbs. It is running much better. Sounds better, much better throttle response. The only thing is now the idle will stay at 3K for  10-15 seconds before coming back down when coming to a stop. It did not do this when I was syncing them. Throttle snaps back well with motor off. Bike is a 78 550 with pods and a 4-into 1. 100 mains. Any help would be appreciated.

Any popping on decell?
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Pull your plugs.  Are they more white then tan?  Are your exhaust headers turning blue-ish?

I'm thinking you are running lean.
