Topic: What happened to the forums?

 The forums were down for more than 24 hours on my end.....what happened?

My bad; a misbehaving backup script kept filling up the server disk. I changed things to use an offsite backup target. Disk space is getting tight, so I have more work to do over the next week or so.

I think this means I should donate some money so a bigger disk can be purchased    This is one of the few places online that I go to on a pretty regular basis, I was a little anxious that i couldn't log in for a couple days.

Glad it's back up and running.

Actually, I was thinking that banning political discussions would save a great deal of disk space.

I for one have created a photobucket account and will link to pictures and not upload them here, is a small step but should help. Unless I miss my guess its the pictures being uploaded that are taking up a good amount of space.

Glad its back up.. Off to hit the Donate button to help off set the costs.. Thanks again for all your work Glenn..

  You know, I was really LOST without this place, really throws ME off as well, when I can't get in here to see what's going on and all. a Habit that has developed for a little over 4yrs, is hard to deal with when you can't have your regular "FIX of SOHC4 AND YOUR Friends" as well.
  
  Sure glad it's back up too and HATE that Glenn has to deal with it ever so often. I can't imagine the headache of doing that. I'm Proud that we HAVE Glenn doing his thing and ALSO having the Mods (Bob, Steve Tipper and even Sam and Mark with the Performance Forum) as well. You guys (ALL of you) are worth your weight in Gold, but just don't hold your breath waiting for ME to be able to pay you.

Have also had to stay away from the political threads, as it pisses me off, and I don't want any potential friendships being lost over trivial bickering.

Well said Joe, and for the record, you have done great in donating to the over all knowledgebase here.. that said.. it does not pay the bills.. so Donation sent (more then $5) so if everyone that can (times are hard) would donate maybe Glenn could not have to mess with it so much and can enjoy his weekends more! Really its one of the down sides to a successful site..

Well, I believe Glen would not do that on purpose.. In fact he never even asked anyone to donate.. He is a stand up guy. For what ever the reason, I am glad to see people chipping in. It can't be easy or cheap to keep this site going..

I feel better knowing I did my part. I also put a reminder on my calendar to donate again in 6 months or so when I have the money...
