Handle Bar Switches for 71 cb750
« on: April 18, 2010, 04:12:10 PM »
I swapped out my bent up stock handle bar for a slightly lower and much nicer new bar. I have a couple problems though with the switches:

1) I was an idiot and took the stock switches apart trying to get them out and off of the old handlebar. Stuff flew everywhere in my frustration. I think I have it mostly put back together, but I can't be sure yet.

2) Even if I could get them together I can't get them to work with the new handlebar. It doesn't have holes in it so the wiring and the stud inside will not fit when I try to clamp them on the bar.

SO... do I try to wire in a universal switch? I can't spend a ton of cash so I need to be smart with this. I like the K&S switch I found by searching here on the forums. It seems to relocate everything but the starter button. I'm assuming I will need another switch for that?

Sorry for so many questions all at once. This is frustrating since I haven't had a bike in over a year. I'm finally getting ready to ride again after crashing 2 summers ago.

Why not just drill holes in the handlebars like the old ones? Then you could run the wires similarly.

It's partly because I'm not sure that I have the innards put back together correctly.
