FFJMOORE's 77 550 super sport restore.
« on: August 05, 2009, 08:17:11 PM »
Got this bike for $350. Its been sitting for 13 years but i think i can clean it up and get it running easy. I wont have time for this bike for a little while. My 550K needs a little more work and my 750F is not running. After that ill get to this one. here are some pics. I think it will clean up pretty good with some steel wool and a can of elbow grease.

Awesome bike man!  You are gonna have one heck of a stable!

Sounds like an awesome price for a bike in pretty good condition.

Can't wait to see what you do with it.

What direction are you thinking?

Im going to clean it up, get it running and sell it stock. So basically a restore. I wanted to make my next 550 a chopper but can not do it to a bike this nice. We'll see what happens. I may fall in love with it and keep it.

I got a mac can exhaust for the bike to repace the one that had rusted and fell off. I replaced the air filter and air box boots and clamps as well as all new cables. Put on some new tires and it has become my daily rider. It runs the best out of the 3 bikes i have. I left it at my inlaws for my father inlaw to ride while i was out of town and his son "filled it up" with car oil. Im going over tomorrow to see what he did. Next on the list is to replace the fork seals and start cleaning up all the chrome and covers.
I wanted to sell the bike when it was all fixed up but i like it so im keeping it! ( and the girl says i can)

just have to find the right one. I was telling her about a motor i found near by and was going to trade some wheels and cash for it and the carbs. Needless to say the look on her face was not as excited as mine. I asked "Do you not want me to go buy this thing? Are you mad?" She said "No, I dont care, i dont need to know about every thing you buy for the bikes. I dont get as excited about motorcycle parts as you." And i do get excited! :D

No sweat...and no insult intended.

I'll get married again someday, I'm sure....but not for at least 5 years.

mine does the same thing.. but i had here all wound up for christmas. told her like 4 diffrent stories about the bike.

ohh your going to love your present.. what is it.. new bars for your motorcycle! fallowed by a disapointed look.

next day she asked what did you get me..  " they are so cute your going to hate them."
 another dispointed look.

next few days basic diffrent replies of the first 2 replies.

some time earlier last week. "what did you get me"
reply: " oooh they are so cute a cuddly, you'll love them."
g/f: "are they for the bike?"
me: no. but the wont eat alot of food.
did you get me  rats/mice ;D    ohh i almost fell over.

so by now im getting it like every few hours. so i went to cycle gear and got some cheap turn signals.  and next time she asked i threw them at her. wrapped of course.

ill give her the real present tomarrow after work.  hahahahahahah

btw your bike is sweet. im almost jealous, to have started with such a nice bike would have been a dream.
 have  a happy new year!

2 Days ago i replace the fork seals and welded up a bracket to hold the exhaust, and fixed a lose connection. Then yesterday I SOLD it. It made its way to california from arkansas with the PO and now i think the kid i sold it to is going to take it to Texas. I was sad for about 12 hours. Then i came home with a CL125 that popped up on craigslist.
