here it is folks, i have been working on this project for about two and a half years and this is what i ended up with, i am very pleased with the results
i have only put about 40 miles on it so far and i have been trying to keep it under control during the break in but from what i can tell this thing rips and just wants to keep going, i am currently working out a battery/charging issue and will have it back on the road shortly to find out what it can really do.
thanks to all of you guys for the inspiration and for sharing your knowledge and especially to paulages for as far as i can tell so far an awesome port job and for holding my hand through the engine build

mods/parts:
850 kit
cyclex super rods
stage 3 port job (thanks again paul)
webcam 63a
cr29 carbs
cyclex 4-2-1 header with custom polished ss muffler
under cut tranny (if you were thinking about doing this mod do it, shifts smooth and easy)
balanced and lightened crank and rotor (spins up way faster than i expected)
stock tank stretched 5" with knee dents
custom oil tank
custom rear sets
custom license plate bracket
custom oil cooler bracket
custom gauge faces
a lot of time and patience

this bike is not perfect, as the builder i see flaws and see things that i would have done different but i think that over all it came together pretty well for a first time bike build on a somewhat limited budget

Very nice and clean. Did you actually increase the capacity of tank or just stretch it for looks. I assume you had 2 tanks that you grafted together. Nice job. I also assume a small batter in the tail section or some such?

yes, the tank has increased capacity, i cut the stock tank in half just in front of the filler neck and welded in a 5" band of steele, ill post pics when i get home from work

the led taillight is from carpy, its actually really nice, super brite

i forgot to mention in my original post that i am also running the cyclex power arc ignition and a hondaman rebuilt swing arm

i couldnt tell you an exact figure but it i have in the neighborhood of 5,000 into it, spread out over two and a half years it really wasnt that hard to take.
keep in mind that i am very fortunate that i have access to a lot of equipment that made it possible to do most of the custom fabrication myself.
i am also fortunate in the fact that i have a lot of really talented friends that were very willing to help me out in areas that i am not that skilled in.
i have no idea what it would cost to have a regular fab shop do some of that stuff

thanks, i am very fond of the tank myself, i must admit that i did it more for looks than for fuel capacity, i guess the extra fuel is an added bonus

thanks, i was definitely going for a clean minimal look, sometimes i see bikes and it looks like the owner was having a contest with his friend to see who could bolt the most crap onto their bike (gag)... less is more imo

thanks, ive been trying to talk her into getting a 350 four but she is all hung up on her silly 63 lambretta scooter, i really dont blame her, it is pretty sweet

I'm not a huge fan of the dual headlight look, but everything turned out pretty tasty!
