Oh, I'll be there.  Never been to one.  Looks fun.

Dude, we need new a subculture that's about two wheels and a motor.  Both Mods and Rockers are about 50 years old by now.

most def nit lee.

prob is people do what they think they're supossed ta do. which is why the country's divided, dem's and repub's. it's funny that they've drawn this line and everyone jumps on one side or the other and defends their side as if the opinions were their own.

if people thought for themselves how come no one is ever pro-environment, anti-death penalty and pro-life. or socially liberal and fiscally conservative with strong beliefs in states rights. my point is these are not well thought out opinions they are just regurgitated spin that has been fed to the masses. a true pro-lifer would be against the death penalty don't you think? the only thing that connects these beliefs ideologically is some political dividing lines. yet people defend them with their lives sometimes.

culture is much the same as politics/ideals in that people adopt the lifestyle/habits of a group that they somehow identify with. of course most americans have never heard of mods or rockers but the same is true of cruiser and sport riders. to me, annoying categories just like con and liberal. no one can think past what has been shoved down their throat for so long.

Mad Max it is.  We just gotta buy a bunch of black spray paint and wait till a hockey goods store goes out of business.

yes! or football pads cut up. lots of leather, dirt, chemotherapy hairdo's. like crust punx only tough.

I have been wanting to build a rat/survival bike for a while. based on a supermoto'd xr650 or similar. and dig a large hole in the back yard for a bunker. lots of applesauce, black beans, pb&j makins, fresh water and gasoline. and then when the zombie apocolypse hits instead of bein all 'oh #$%*' I'd be all 'hell, yeah'. oh yeah shot guns, obviously. and full leathers for bite protection.

next project.

Me and the gf got a ratbike going, a $400 kz650.  Its only missing two things.  Its missing spark, so it can't be ridden anywhere.  Therefore, it can't start accumulating dirt and grime, which is the second things its missing.  I suppose this would make it a terrible survival bike, being as how it would be hard to escape a zombie attack on it.

It looks nice, though.  We took off all the fenders and even the bondo on the tank.  It was involved in a horrific accident!  Even had road rash on the gas cap.  The pavement shaved a 1" whole in the stator cover too.  Should be rideable in a month, hopefully.  But not fast.  I think the forks are slightly bent.

I had a hole in my stator cover that I fixed w/ jb weld. it worked fine. ugly, though.

I had a bent fork, too. I just twisted it to a point that I thought would mitigate the bend, but it caused the triptree to crack. I have a new front end to fix all that. but just a heads up. and it shook a lot before I twisted it. might be worth it to find straight fork tubes...

True, true.  Its barely noticeable, but with new tires we could see the front wheel was contacting off-center with the pavement.  There's a good bike junkyard not too far from here, so we might be able to score some decent forks there.

I've heard of JB weld doing the trick.  Did you just use JB, or did you also use some other object to help "plug" the hole?

I read that while killing time at a local B&N not too long ago.  Very cool!  Congrats!
It took 10 years but she's finally done!

yeah, JB. awesome stuff for the availability and price. there are better options, though for more dough. like devcon.

So, off-topic (ha!), I was getting annoyed, not being able to find this damn magazine anywhere.  I went to Barnes & Noble, Borders, all the local places here in town - Nothing.  Yesterday I was making the rounds to all the Autozones, Pep Boys and whatnots, looking for moto stuff, and all three of them carried Motorcycle Classic.  Apparently, its quite the staple at sub-par auto parts stores.  So much for my high-falutin' literary ambition.

"Oh yeah, you can usually find my work at most fine bookstores.  Look for the car magazines with tits and plastic spoilers, its usually around there somewhere."

ha ha

I have a subscription to any mag I like enough to want. moto classics is a good one.

if you want more recognition you'll have to write about donk rides, honda civics w/ coffee can mufflers or lo-rider trucks. them's the brakes.

oh, or disco choppers. and hayabusa's w/ 10 ft over extended swingarms are popular w/ guys who wear plastic mohawks. they tend to be big readers.
