Does the 72' Honda CB500 original paint have lead in it?

Probably it does. In fact some of our current frames are made in Japan and we cannot import the touch up paint.

I have a feeling it does contain lead. I know that many car and motorcycle companies used lead based primer in the past and i was curious if anyone knew for sure. I was going to paint the tank and wanted to know what i was up against before i start sanding

Just sport a dust mask if you are worried about it.

You would have to sand lead based battleship paint for 30 years before you got sick.
