Re-Assembly of the Stator cover / wire routing...
« on: April 23, 2010, 04:47:10 PM »
Folks,

Working to re-assemble my left hand side covers on my engine... CB750 (I tend to forget to add that detail).

I don't quite remember the routing of the wire shown in the picture (with the white jacket over it) that's handing over the side of the engine.  I believe it goes to a 'sensor' underneath the engine.

Exactly, how do I route it to that spot?

Amazing the details that are forgotten over just a few short weeks.

 Thanks!

Scott

 That's the nuetral wire?

I would have guessed to route it back through that area.  Looks like a messy area.

Were there any keepers of anything to hold the wire in position?

The pictures you took, Johnnie, are super - Thanks!

This is the neutral switch wire. It is a bit fragile in it's routing, but it goes out thru the opening in the chain guard and then underneath. It is of a length that will go to the neutral switch with a bit of looseness. There is a keeper near the switch which takes up the slack. If this is unclear, let me know and I will take some pics tomorrow for you. I have a 78K.

Yah, the keeper on my 750 is a flat tab mounted to one of the oil pan bolts. It holds that neutral safety switch wire in place. Click to enlarge...

Your motor looks great! Did you polish the covers or have it done?

Meriggi,

Yup.  Polished everything myself.  Thanks for the comment!

Polishing... What a messy job.  Even though I took precautions to contain the mess, the mess is, well, everywhere.  I vacuum (shop vac) now and then, but there's still a mess.

Worth it in the end.  Everyone who passes my bike (mostly just my family for now) comments on 'the beauty'.

 Here's my mess:

Scott...that set-up looks familiar... ;D Nice job on the polishing. I agree, not one of my favorite jobs, but well worth the effort when done.
