Sandcast no number pipes
« on: April 22, 2010, 09:01:39 AM »
Hi all I have a set of sandcast no number no markings pipes on my bike. I am curious what these are worth. I have had them re chromed they still have pitting in them but all of the corosion has been removed by boil out. Rather nice looking set of pipes. Anyways I am curious as to there value as I am afraid to run these for fear of damage. I may set these aside and buy some carpy or yamiya repop yosh pipes just to save these suckers. Anyways just throwing it out there.

If you had them rechromed you should have gone the nine and ceramic coated the interior also.

It already cost me $1600.00 to rechrome. I thought that was enough.

I would hang on to them, especially if they have not been run since rechroming.
Someone that needs them should pay a bunch of cash, plus a good exhaust for them.

I assume they have the no flat spot under the brake pedal & the long baffles.

There is a notch for the brake petal and they have the long non early sandcast baffles. I am planning on keeping them. I am really just curious as to there value. My reason for switching them out is so I can ride the beasty without freaking out about damaging the original pipes.

Yamiya has their repros for sale at $1780 right now.  (Its interesting that a set of HM300 replicas are going for $2018).  Anyway, I bought a set last summer for a little less than that and I personally wouldn't be able to tell the difference between those and the originals except that maybe they're a little nicer.  That's complete with baffles too.  I assume yours are originals?  Personally I wouldn't by restored originals when I can get brand new replicas that I can't tell the difference but some guys would probably be all over it.  Hopefully that helps with what they may be worth.
