Kickstart Question
« on: April 21, 2010, 04:06:29 PM »
I would really like to see if my bike starts before I reassemble it entirely. I am a newb when it comes to engines and electronics. What do I need to do just to see if it will run? Don't be afraid to make me look like a moron. Its a cb550f, 1975.

mount the engine securely,if you want to kick it all you need to do is wire the coils to a battery and have at it.btw, dont forget to rig a gas jug to feed the carbs.

The basics would be:
- fully charged battery
- points gapped & timed
- working coils, plug caps and clean, gapped spark plugs
- tappet clearance set
- carbs reasonably clean with appropriate jetting
- good compression

If you are going to run 'er more than a few seconds
- pipes with good back pressure
- fan to keep engine cool

EDIT:
- fuel supply
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.
