Wiring harnesses 78 vs 76
« on: April 21, 2010, 08:16:02 PM »
I am working on my bike, a 78k and want to get the bar area as clean as possible. I'd like to relocate the key/ignition down below the tank like the 76. I need a new wiring harness either way due to melted wires and connectors. So the question: other than key location, is there any difference in the main wiring harness of the 77/78s and the 76s and earlier?

Going for a bump and a thought...I'm pretty sure 76s and earlier don't have a hand brake light switch?

78's have a different start safety circuit: 73-77 used a "starter motor safety unit", while the 78 used a diode.
