« on: April 21, 2010, 08:24:10 PM »
Hello all. been following the forum for a little over 2 month now, that when I picked up my 1975 cb 550, found it on craigslist for 1000.00 bucks it was a runner but needed alot of work, def need to find a cheaper one next time, well I picked it up like i said 2 months ago, 2nd day I had it started the tear down started, being a noobie it took me a little while to figure everything out but once  got started it rolled pretty smooth, lot of simple green toothbrush scrubbing, 400 grit sand paper, steel wool, mothers polishing compund elbow grease an a polishing wheel an its turning out pretty nice,
Once i got it to the look i wanted it I began the parts order an the rebuild,
some things Ive done to it so far, painted wheels gunmetal with a silver flake),new brake piston, new challenger tires an tubes, painted speedo an tach, frame painted black with a metallic silver clubmans, custom bar clamps(cut out the dummy lights in between the bar clamps) asv (f1) cluth lever with pearch 2009 crf 450 master cylinder asv brake lever, (need new braided brake line but being cheap an running the old one) painted fins on motor flat black, new grips all new cables, new gaskets through out, rebuilt carbs( up the main to a 40 an the pilot to a 110 or is it the other way around?) 4 into 2 exhaust came on the bike but painted it a flat siler tone, put some new shorty mufflers on it, waiting on My gp race tank from roc city cafe an dunstall seat an cowl, rewired bike with a simple wiring diagram I found, gonna be kick start only, headlight is on a switch,Running a single uni filter with stock plastic piece that mounts to carbs. its coming along. some thing I need to get it road worthly. need to sync my carbs, seems to be firing good but will recheck the timing an firing, tach didnt seems to be working to good, adjust clutch cable, weld up a battery box an mount electrical,(waiting on tank to see where to mount it, sorry to ramble Im paul 31 from scottsdale arizona. hers a link to my photobucket  an the bike thanks.http://s924.photobucket.com/home/luap_dr
