Plastiguaged, now what? Bearing chart help, Please.
« on: April 24, 2010, 04:30:13 PM »
I've plastiguaged my con rod bearings for my F1 and now I have a couple questions.

First, the manual says that the gap should measure .02 to .046mm BUT should be replaced if greater than .08mm. So what happens between .046 and .08mm?

I'm measuring at .076 for 3 bearings and between .05 and .076 for the fourth with the black bearings. I assume that this isn't as good as it could be. Should I move up a size or two? Any help with this question inparticular would be especially helpful, as I am very bad with #'s and math and I don't trust myself. And I really can't make sense of the Honda chart anyhow.

Also, if I'm using a crank from one motor and rods from another, does it matter which rod goes on what journal? I have 3 H3's and a H2.

Any Help???

Ok, I think I need to add that I used the red plastiguage. I think that I will purchase the green tomorrow and see what results I get.

If any one has any input until then I am all eyes.

I will post results tomorrow.

Green is all I have ever used, and I started in 1970 working on these.
