Help with clutch bolts...
« on: April 24, 2010, 06:46:50 PM »
Does anyone know how much I'm supposed to tighten these
4 bolts on the clutch? Oops! something happened to the picture,
but it's the 4 bolts in the center of the clutch that has the springs behind them.

Thanks

take the smallest ratchet you have and just tighten them one turn at a time each, so that the basket comes together uniformly.  Tighten them down until they seat gently, i think the manual says 6 lbs torque.  But trust me, you don't want to tighten down too hard or you will snap the towers off of the pressure plate...i know from experience.

if you download the manual itll have a torque setting,,i just do them by hand,,its only alloy so a good nip up only.,i also reversed the spring seats and cured my slipping clutch, after trying heavy duty springs ,which i could compress by hand easier than the stock ones!

That is the BIG KEY right there. Those plates LOVE to snap.

Maybe I downloaded the  wrong manual. I can't find torque specs for that anywhere?

you don't need torque spec dave, just tighten them down until they seat...putting a torque wrench on those bolts is asking for trouble

yeah, just nip em up,,but not like a wheel nut!!the whole basket spins in the direction of tightening,so,,they never come undone.i guess?
