Here are some pictures of the head and cam towers for my early sandcast 750. This engine uses 1 o ring per tower. You can see the machined recess for the o ring at the oil feed. There is no o ring used at the end of the oil path.
Check your engine carefully. I am sure this does not apply to later engines.
