 Is it normal to see a good amount of oil inside the starter?

In the starter motor or the starter clutch?

It was through the entire starter but after tearing it apart i think the PO over greased the gears ( i mean waayyyy over greased) and crammed the starter back on and shoved some inside the starter housing and over time and heat spread everywhere. But the good news is i took in totally apart and cleaned it out and let it dry out for 2 days and it works fine! ( one less thing to buy!)
