oil cooler install on a 1976 CB750F
« on: April 29, 2010, 06:45:16 PM »
well...its going to work.   swiped the oil cooler assembly off of a totalled 83 CB650SC Nighthawk.    with just a little bit of massaging..it fits.  Had to turn it upside down so lines exit the bottom instead of the top.  removed those fins so it wouls sit in the proper place.  Took 4 mm off the oil filter bolt boss.  i will flare the ends of the steel lines and use rubber high pressure lines for now until i can have proper lenght lines made.  The cooler itself is going to be mounted on a bracket bolted to where the horn mounts now.   and it all clears the factory headpipes.  pics to follow when done.

Please show us pix when it's done. MRieck has done his also and I'd love to see his pictures as well. What needs to be done with the electrical junction box?

mine did not have a junction box when i got her...she had the big vetter windjammer thingy on her and they had cut the mount bracket off for the vetter mount to fit against the frame tube...besides my horn mount is on the other side of the frame.

Did you use the little square "insert image" bottom row 3rd from the left above the emoticons? I use that for my Photobucket pix. Click on it then insert your link between the 2 sets of brackets.

hey thanks for that.....BTW..that top pic is my old 81 GL1100 wing.....she went the way of the dodo after a horrific wreck on Hiway 67 south of Gosport a few years ago.  Ever had a trans  go all to pieces at 70 mph?
