Like that Country Western song, "What  Was (were) I (THEY) THINKING?" ::)

I mean, even IF some were color blind, what about the fact that there was obvious traffic in some of those situations? Sure glad I don't live THERE! ;)

We have that around here everyday. You have to wait an extra second or two when you get the green because there will always be at least one more car going through.  :(

I'd say more than 1/2 of those were "Oh $hit" inattenative moments and the Nazi cameras would have no effect b/c if the person didn't see a bright red light, they aren't gonna see a camera either. So, tell me, how many accidents did those cameras stop?

Riding a motorcycle has made me much more aware of my surroundings, including NOT going through a yellow light unless I'm absolutely positive that I'll be through when it turns red.  I watch people run red lights all the time, and I smirk when I see that camera flash.  Every time.

I guess my road sense has made me more of a safety Nazi than any red light camera could/would.  Concern for my personal safety makes me cautious more than any red light camera's threat of a fine could.

On the other hand, if that threat of a fine makes someone ELSE more cautious who would otherwise have less concern for their own (and by default others') personal safety, then I say BRING ON THE NAZI DEATH CAMERAS!   ;D

If anything, the video lets us see more of what happens than we normally would not see.

I have always looked both ways just before going through an intersection or taking a longer look at the one coming out of the parking lot or ... when 1up or 2up.  But when I am in a cage I notice I do not look as often.

On the way home, I did pay more attention while I was in my cage.

So, I think it makes a difference to many people that have watched that or any others that may be available to view.

I'd hope the drivers that got tickets and avoided accidents will be more careful in the future but what're the chances of that?

The one with the big rig was pretty impressive!

The right-turn ones, IMO, shouldn't be given tickets unless there's a "no right turn on red" law or sign...

I ALWAYS double check oncoming traffic when I am proceeding through an intersection with a GREEN light whether riding or caging.  You NEVER know what idiots are not paying attention.  Even though it's their fault, the outcome is the same...  Unbelievable but it happens all the time.  Let's be EXTRA safe out there folks.  We'll all be better off for it!

I hate the red light cams in the Chicago area.  A $100 ticket for making a right turn without stopping for a full 3 seconds?!

yeah it should be aired on tv every night on every channel,it is scary stuff, some of the innocent ones could have been more observant maybe?,were soon to get speed cameras combined into the red light cameras,,so if you speed up on the yellow,or even green, youll get nabbed.

As others have pointed out the "inattentive" driver as you call it (I call it careless, shouldnt-be-on-the-road-driving) will hopefully get a huge fine and will think twice about blasting through intersections. On the other hand everyone who watches this kind of video will think twice about blasting through intersections whether they have a green or red light. Job well done by the camera either way.

Better than having no camera and doing nothing about the problem IMHO. If you got a better solution lets hear it.
