Not painting the frame is a real mistake.

CycleX 520 Chain kit ordered! Will be ordering front master cylinder kit and brake pads next week. After that, I will be turning the ten mile radius around my house into a proving ground!

CycleX 520 chain kit did not disappoint, as usual with them!

Rebuilt front and rear master cylinders, assembled and bled the brake system, fixed a sticking float needle, and threw a mirror on.

I tried to take her on the maiden voyage today, seeing as it was 56 degrees here, but she wouldn't start. I think I have weak spark. So, we'll throw a new set of plugs in and check it out.

Cycle One sells a $350 weld on hardtail and you get to keep the stock vin#/registration.

70's frames like this one from AEE, C&G, Santee, or Amen can be found on Ebay for the $400 range, and the cool factor is much higher in my opinion. You're running a vintage engine, why not put it in a vintage frame?

Digger, agreed on the cool factor. For many guys the problem is the lack of an MSO. How're you handling your titling in Illinois? RR

Cool. That's how we have to do a SPCN (Special Construction) here in CA as well. It's not as bad as in some states. BTW, nice build! She's got a great profile. RR

Just placed an order for one of Tintop's anti-pod kits. I think performance wise this is going to be the best approach.

Also plan on ordering this exhaust from CycleX this week:

Once I have these two things, I should be able to fine tune the carburetors.

Until then, I just have to take care of a couple things the state requires to title a bike: horn (lame), horizontal license plate (lame), brake light switch for foot pedal (not so lame I guess). Then it's on to the business of title application.

Ok here's how the CycleX exhaust looks. I am pretty pleased for the most part, but I still don't have a lot of ground clearance (probably because I'm only starting with about 5" from the frame to begin with). If you look though, there is room to bend the pipes a little and bring in up more in line with the frame.

Sounds great though! Much quieter than the four straight pipes, but still loud enough to command attention.

I agree. Bend the headers just a degree or two to get them closer to the frame. Then pull the muffler off the headers and put in a short extension pipe - 6 to 8". Bend that pipe just about the same spot as the frame does to have the pipe follow the line of the frame than slap the muffler back on. It will look much slicker.

Great job on the bike overall. I like the engine's color scheme!
