She's a cutie, Digger. Love that age of kids, young and innocent.

In between the continuing molding process, I also shaved unused brackets off the top tree and soda blasted it.  Looks a lot cleaner in my opinion.

That's not a matter of opinion, it's a factual statement. :)

Looks awesome!

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

Phase one of the molding process is done.  Z-Grip has been used as filler.  Next up is Piranha Putty to smooth things further, but first here's a photo update:

Scored this finned breather cover off eBay!  This guy is making a limited run of them, I guess.  I don't know how many he's making, but they are on eBay right now.  In my opinion, they are very high quality and worth the price if you want a finned cover.

Using the stock front end.  I have a girder that I was considering, but I'm gonna save that for another project.

Wow, $120 for that breather cover? Kinda pricey.

I admit it's steep, but I haven't seen better ones go for less.

Just got done with the first coat of primer now!

Next time remind me to wear my respirator :o

Two cans of spray paint for one coat of primer.  I'm gonna need a lot more primer, paint, and clear-coat than I thought.

Frames eat paint, yo. First of all they're round, so there's always another angle, and second they're all narrow, so you overspray like crazy.

But yay! Progress!

I am about in lust over that frame. Now that is truly a labor of love!
Great work on the bike. You've nailed that period feel perfectly.

Done sanding the first coat of primer.  Have I mentioned how sick I am of sanding?

Should be one more coat of primer this weekend and then on to paint.

Sanded frame hanging for the second coat of primer:

Garage is prepped a little better to control the overspray:

Homemade dust collector using an old box fan, cardboard box, furnace filter, and some duct tape:

And this time I didn't forget my mask:

Second coat done, waiting for paint now:

Looks like you got it.  Another trick is to spray the floor with water to keep the dust down.

First coat of paint is "Daytona Yellow" for my lazy man's pinstriping.

I'll wait a few days for this coat to cure and then it's on to Hemi Orange and then Two-Part Clear.
