Building Aluminum Forge /propane/LG
« on: April 28, 2010, 04:27:41 PM »
Hi I am looking to build a propane or liquid gas powered forge, for casting aluminum.
Has anyone here built one or has any know how they would be willing to share in regards to this venture.

I'm still in the planning phase but I will be moving forth as soon as I get some concrete plans.

maybe I'll make it into a forge build thread, if people want.

i built one several years ago that runs off propane. Built mine for horseshoeing.
but I don't see why it wouldn't work for your project.

It's a three nozzle job made from black pipe. into a box with insulation (fire brick).
Regulator on the propane tank, orifice to limit gas flow in the box and a ball valve to shut the deal off.
I can try to take some pictures if you like.

Yes please, send or post pictures if you can.
I'm looking for firebrick as well as a good chamber design.
