1971 K1 Fork Ears

Can these be rebuilt? mine are pretty rusted and wondering if they can be restored. Hard to find replacements, and exspesive when  i do see them. Thanks, sweenerman

how bad are they? surface rust? was the bike dropped? - a common flaw is to see them kinked or bent right at the bucket mouting bole hole - this can be difficult to straighten out, but not impossible.

you should be able to shuck them off the bike if you first remove the top mount - they are little more than window dressing, besides holding the headlight on, of course, so you ought to be able to treat them like any other piece of rusted, paint flaked metal...

can you post some pix? I have the same bike, and had the same problem - still in the process of fixing my forks so i haven't got it all back together yet.

Yeah, I'll remove them and post some pics. They are not buckled, just some heavy rust and fading. thanks for the reply
