Piston rings????
« on: April 28, 2010, 09:17:41 PM »
Hey all is there a difference between 69 750 rings and 71 to 76 rings. I need set for my 69 but the fit shows for 71 to 76. Can't think of a reason for them to be different. Also anyone have a good site to get rings at a good price for all 4 pistons in standard size. Late

Accordibg to the very early parts book i have there were different part numbers for the CB750, CB750K1 and the K2-K4 same as pistons so i suspect the earlier years are different especially as the pistons superceed to the later number but the rings do not.

The early manual (1970) that i also have makes no mention of land width only ringe end and side clearance

Cool thanks for the info. I guess I will have to hunt down 69/70 piston rings as I am running the stock pistons.

Just looked up the parts fisch and it shows the old rings are superceded by the new ones so I am assuming the 71+ rings with the same part number will fit.

Use your engine serial number to help. Provided the pistons have not been changed that should make it work. Then you'll know the superceded part will work.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Original pistons. So I should be good. Ordered them from z1 for 13 and change a set. Should do the trick. Thanks for the help.
