Cosmetic differences b/w 76 and 77 CB750K
« on: April 30, 2010, 08:09:11 PM »
So I'm looking for a 750k

It seems there were some significant changes in appearance between 76 and 77.  The tank is a different shape, the oil tank is different...

I've found a 77 for sale, but I much prefer the look of the 69-76 K models.

What would be required to mount an earlier tank on a 77k?

I see a lot of 77-78 bikes for sale around here.I stick with 76 or older, really like the 71's and still a lot of parts available for these. If your in the New York area you will have to probably make a road trip to find a deal, not to many barns around. Picked this 1975 RD125 for $50.00 out of a Michigan barn recently.

The early model tank will fit on the frame, but there will be a gap between the tank and the seat.  The seat is also wider on the 77 and has a step-up for the passenger instead of the flat bench style.  If you plan to put a cafe seat on it, this won't be an issue.

The seat is another issue...I much prefer the earlier seat.

Perhaps I should be patient and narrow my search to 76 or earlier k bikes... I just get the itch because I've been looking for awhile now.

I'm not afraid of a road trip... The difficult thing I've found is that when a 750 is listed for a good price, it goes quick...quicker than I can get to it.

hmm...

77 and 78 are allmost the same and from performance stand point are faster and have better brakes then the 76. Unfortunately the F2s and F3s seem to eat there valve trains at some point. I had one from 17k miles to 22k miles and it ran like Swiss watch.
S CB750 na vecne casy a nikdy jinak.
