i've been offered a jackson performer (not sure which model yet) guitar in exchange for rebuilding and setting up 6 stromberg 97's for a friend.  i'm wondering what the story, good or bad about jackson guitars in general and the performer (again not sure which one) i've never even held a jackson guitar in my hands let alone played one. supposedly this one is in good shape, has a floyd rose system on it too and i think a locking nut as well. I've seen the online reviews but i want t hear from folks that i'm sure arent working for the company  ;D

I think they are the $500 and under line. Mostly made overseas, (if I remember my sales pitch from the 90's ;)). Real close to the low end Ibanez RG line. From what I remember, decent guitars. Back in the day all the shredders and metal guys I knew had Jackson's.

Hey Bucky, how much do you know about Danelectros? There has been a DC 3 (Gold Sparkel) hangin in the store where I give lessons for years and I asked what he would give it up for, $150. Is that a good price? Not to familar with these.

people either love or hate Danos.............i happen to love them. would you be willing to trade a nice Kerker for a cb750 for it?
i'll even pay to ship it to you..............seriously.  this is the reverse dinky, 2 humbuckers and an active single coil in between them. this one was made in Japan. it sounds meaner than any electric i've ever owned in the 33 years i've had electric guitars snd i LOVE the Kahler Floyd Rose with not only a locking nut but the fine tuners on the Tremelo block.

by the way........howthe hell do i use the spell checker?

$150 is a fine price for a DC3.  They are usually about $100 more than that.

I bet the Jackson is less likely to catch on fire than the 6 strombergs.

it likely wont foul spark plugs and stain that pretty mirror polished alumiinum intake either, but they DO look cooler.

Japanese Jackson's are pretty good, if I remember correctly, like my Korean Epiphone SG, The Dinky has no name pickups and pots, but decent hardware and finish. Once I put a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge with a genuine Gibson pot in it, she sounded like the $900 real-deal Gibson.

Enjoy your new shredder, but if you feel tempted to join a band where the singer sounds like the cookie monster, KILL HIM!...and then yourself! :P

lol i have that korean g400 too, a 1989 model and with that set neck it is one sweet playing and sounding guitar. trying to find some lower end chrome humbuckers for it now to replace the pickups that look like 2 single coils bundled together
