Hey all, my Fiance has just opened her own cafe in South Minneapolis, and she has graciously agreed to let me offer free coffee to my fellow SOHC4 members. The cafe is called South City Cafe and is located at 3504 Chicago Ave S. Her name is Melody and just let her know you're an SOHC4 member! Say hi to me as well if I'm here. Bring the family or come by yourself and bring your bike!

That's awesome!  Thanks for the offer, and good luck to her with the new business.
I'm down in Northfield, but the next time I swing through South Mpls I'll surely drop in!

That's great.  I will definitely stop by.  Did not get out this weekend as it was the Festival of Garage sales in my neighborhood so I unloaded a bunch of stuff and made a little cash. :D  I am always up for pastries and coffee.

why the heck not?! it's only 1235 miles according to mapquest. if i can maintainthe ton the whole way i could likely get there in about 14 hours (got to allow for fuel stops)   ;D i spent a summer in mahtomedi miinnesota in 95, working for a dressage rider and olympic hopeful Hokan Thorn, beautiful state where i was. i'd love to make it my home some day.

This makes me homesick! I'm from New Ulm originally. (Small town, south central MN) I lived in Minneapolis for a while and have family and really good friends there. My brother is even at the U. But you don't care about any of that. Good luck with the new business, there are lots of great coffee shops in that town, hope you can be one of them.

Crud, I work 2nd shift on Friday and then all day Saturday so I can't make it.
But yeah, sounds like a good rendezvous spot!

It was in rough shape when I got it. It ran though so that was good.

I will definatly stop in!

Bryn Mawr.  North and south of the 394 and Penn exit just west of downtown.  It's between the big park with all the ball fields and Theo Wirth Parkway with Cedar Lake the south boundary.

New Ulm........home of Schells Beer. :D

Huh?
I thought 35th & Chicago was a bit south of Lake and a bit east of 35w.

Have you ever gone to the Garage Sale Days in the Longfellow neighborhood? AMAZING! There was over 300 last year. Oofda!

Re: my last post
Nevermind, I figured it out from the context.

Garage sales are too much fun.  I generally don't let myself go unless looking for a specific thing, otherwise I come home with lots of loot and get the "what the heck is that crap"-look from my wife!

Weekdays will be hard for me.  I just locked up a bathroom and kitchen remodeling job so I will be busy, finally. :D  I do usually take the weekends off though.

The Bryn Mawr one has been going on for like 30 years so it's the granddaddy of neighborhood garage sales.  I use it as an excuse to get a look inside garages for old bikes.  But this year I was tied down to my own sale so no great finds.

Is it an optical illusion or do the wheels on that bicycle look a bit odd? :D  The bus stop starts ahead of where I parked and what does not show is a SUV to the rear protecting the bike form the potential bus. ;D

Looks like the biker wanted to feel like he is going downhill all the time! Less pedaling to get where he want's to go as he can coast. ;D

Sorry to bump such an "old" thread but I have commuted by this restaurant (and watched it grow) for a while now.  Great to happen upon a neighborhood establishment that is cycle (including bicycle) friendly.  Kudos, good sir.  I will be in shortly to claim my free coffe and spend my cash on your food and on tipping your waitstaff.  I will even endure the current road construction to make good on said claim.

Rock on SCC!  I hope business has been good this summer.
