750k caliper question
« on: May 02, 2010, 11:06:52 PM »
i have a k4 750 that is really a frankenbike, made up of parts from all sorts of different year 750's  the front caliper i have on it came on the bike when i got it 5 years ago and is a good bit smaller on the outside than the one i got recently also for a 750. they both look the same with the only difference being that the one on the bike is like a 7/8 sized version of the new one. they both have the same size piston inside though the bolts that hold it to the bracket are different distances apart. i'm going to put the new one on the other side of the forks for a dual disc conversion but it's going to LOOK odd. any ideas as to what i have here? i'm going to start this project tomorrow if it doesnt rain

I have a 75 and a 77 cb750 and they have different calipers as well. Figured it came with the year change but fork legs look the same. The bolt heads are from the outside on the later one. And the brake line and bleed screw are in different positions.

77/78 calipers are shaved, have outside bolts, and fatter (at caliper) swing bracket. They do fit 73 and up legs. The 73 and up dual disc is easier to do than the earlier type..

77/78 750 caliper looks like a 500 one but the 500 is smaller and c-c on bolts is closer together..

Good to know. I'm planning on throwing a second brake on there sometime.
