Scrap,

We're ALL different. Just making a point to ALL who may have posted on this topic. I try to not step on anybodies toes by carefully formulating my thoughts before I post them. I just hope others may disagree at the most vs thoughtlessly pissing someone off. I do know what you're saying ;) and I don't necessarily disagree.

Let's not be a--holes, would be my advise to ALL.

I know were all different, and we probably wouldn't say half the crap we do to each other if we were sitting around a table having a few cold ones.
I don't try to go out of my way to pi$$ anyone off, but I really have a hard time not yanking a chain or 2 when it just seems like the thing to do.
I don't purposely try to be an a-ho, but it just comes natural sometime.
Anyway, I have a lot of different kind of bikes and frequent a few different forums, but this one is my favorite. But then again, my CB750's are my favorite bikes that I own also.

It always amazes me how far away from the origanal topics these threads go.

Haha, kinda like this below:

I am embarrassed by this crap.  Here's the situation:  New guy posts pics of what he is in to.  New guy obviously has some "other" interests than SOHC.  Old timers on this forum start trashing him!!!  (Setting an example for the new guy)   I call bulls**t!!!  Then after he has been trashed by some folks he responds with telling the trasher where to go.  I say way to go.  Yes, the rebuttal was a bit much but who threw the first stone?  Who do you think you are talking trash to someone you don't even know just because you own an old f**king Honda motorcycle?  The MOST embarrassing thing is the people who are now trashing the new guy for defending himself with a few flying "F's"  You all have to get over yourselves too.  Some of you are acting like a bunch of purist douche-bags.  Sell your Honda and go buy a Harley if you want to act like that.

However I'm not taken it personally.

Am I upset? No

Am I mad? No

Was the Fbomb/Old Fart attack towards SOHC4? No

Was the Fbomb/Old Fart attack towards an old fart? Maybe

Was it in true seriousness? No

Is this known to general be the way of The German, kinda over the top
or making a thread worth watching? Maybe, I mean really, if I just went on
just some stupid rant along the lines of, "YEAH, WHAT DO YOU HAVE BUDDY!
YOU X$%$%#$%#$, $%$#%#$%#$...." I might of well have some fun with it.

Was I disppointed that this was going to turn out to be another sh*t fit website? Possiably

Has it got better? Yes

I have pulled down the more vulgar images upon your guys/girls request(s).

I was acutely directed towards the "Inspirations Thread" for ideas, I
figured I put up a single post for general color ideas,
a.k.a."Stay away from blacking out a motor Blake if you intend on riding it"
, a.k.a,"I care for the blue and silver package, however I will warn you,
your first Cafe Racer meet EVERYONE will have the color combo." To to
kinda float the boat I posted, and then it kinda turned to this. The bike
probably doesn't even belong here.

So, why did I get this and why so small? I know this is a contradiction, and
don't really know any other way to say it: I wanted a Cafe Racer, not a motorcycle.
Basically,I could go out and buy another Vtwin or CB750 all day, you never see Cafe Racers
fixed up running around....only at shows, pulled in by trailer.

I'm 200lbs and got it to ~70 with no problems, it's to zip around, and have
fun with and have something you don't ever see.....other then a beat up one
or in a mag.

I wouldn't consider this my build page and have yet to start one.

So, SURPRISE! Not even a CB at all! A Honda CL175

P.S.: bgfootball67, I'll be needing some picutres of that bike! I'll see if I can't go through your info to find it.

P.S.S: What is going on witth post board jumping all over the place and having no control?

what is it? A CL..... ..... something?  looks like an ideal starter bike for a light cafe project, though. The power/weight ratios on those old hondas are impressive.

German, I just want you to know that I think you have acted well in this situation.  I am not impressed with other's actions, especially those who have been here for a long time.  It seems to have calmed down.
Nice bike.  Are those velocity stacks made of rubber tubing or some thermoplastic?  I like the pipes the way they are (visually) but you might benefit from some back pressure......
"Sure, if you don't want that bike in your backyard, I guess I'll take it."  "I'll probably just scrap it......"

Thanks for pulling down the f-bomb images.

175's are cute bikes.

As an aside, I'm not sure why you think cafe racers are pulled around on trucks. I see nice ones that are riders, and ridden, every day here in Portland (well, ok, maybe not in the middle of our 200 consecutive days of rain every year, but you know what I mean.)

You could try caferacer.net for a bit of help with the twins (this is, after all, a sohc4 site), but they are a bit more abrasive than the people here.

Look forward to your build thread.

I should add, that most of the 'old farts' around here have a lot of useful knowledge. They've also been here a long, long time. So coming into a forum as a new person and being combative is kind of like wandering into a bar where a lot people have been sitting at the same stool every night for freakin ever, and then taking an attitude with them. Usually not a good idea, and whether thats your (oddly, third person reference to yourself) modus operandi or not, it usually isn't going to fly very well. It's just human nature. If people feel attacked or disrespected, they'll find something about you to talk about in an unflattering way.

Have fun!

(Is this how mlinder greets people? Yes, that's how mlinder greets people! :) )

..So coming into a forum as a new person and being combative

I read his first post and just now re-read it and don't see combative comments anywhere in that first post - the opposite in fact. He provides his name, past/current interests and tells us he is here to build a bike (like many of us). For whatever reason certain members jumped on him for whatever reason (no good one that I could see) and he responded in kind (likely not being new to the nature of forums he gave as good as he got, although I agree with you that he crossed the line on using offensive images).

Respect goes both ways  8)

Perhaps it's just me, but when I get a bit of crap being new on a forum, my initial response isn't a bunch of "#$%* you" images in my second post. It's true his first post was anything but combative. His responses to attacks, however, were even more childish than the attacks.

There are two ways to deal with this kind of stuff, and in my opinion, his was not the optimal.

Okay, so since there is no SOHC4 anywhere in this, can we move this thread to other bikes?  :)

German - We have 2 CL350's that we are working on. One is staying stock and one is going more cafe. I think you will have some fun with that 175 of yours. You may try hondatwins.com and hondatwins.net if you have some specific questions that you can't get answered here. Although there are a few guys here who know them well and are on both boards. Those guys can be less interactive, but then again from the responses here, you may welcome that.  :D
1969 CL350 Scrambler... almost done!!! Well, until something else goes wrong. :)
2006 HD 883 Sportster, stock. No use changing it, it's still gonna be a Harley.

well, lets all just have a big sit down meeting about it, pick everything apart, then decide on a reasonable course of action.

I move to sit quietly with collective thumbs up our butts until more pics are produced of bikes that are not SOHC's and more bikes are discussed that are also not SOHC's.

Any seconds on that motion?  :)

Look, you join this Forum and your first post is in the SOHC Tech Forum with nothing but ' look at my 4 wheeled toys', no SOHC bike ( no any bike ) and a 'kit' bike chopper..... and then you show a CL, not a CB anything, as a 'token'....... !!?? Move it to 'Open Forum', "Other Bikes' where it belongs........por favor.

The guy that started this thread has a total of 6 posts.
There are now 5 pages in this thread.
Most of the posts in this thread are negative, slandering, mean and just down right ignorant.
Most of the people who posted negative input,(not all, but most), have very high post counts.
If you don't like what you see, fine say so once and move on.
A bunch of you guys (you know who you are), are immature pricks and your only ability is to make a bad situation worse.
Anyway, you can go ahead and slam me here or shot me a PM and harass me, some pussy has already done that.
You know who you are.
