Motivated by the build threads of both IC and Squirley, I decided some time ago that I would do a modern front end conversion on my little 400. I was always interested in doing a dual disc setup, but after reading and researching, doing something modern came out as having more benefits than using parts that were 30+ years old. The OEM front end needed a rebuild anyways, so for me, this decision was a no-brainer.
The front end is from a 2001 Suzuki GSX-R1000, which features inverted shocks, adjustable dampening, and...6-pot dual calipers

the last part definitely makes me want to give random strangers high-fives due to the shear awesomeness of it!
I got it off eBay for $425 shipped to Hawaii. It is basically complete- minus the top triple! I have been keeping my eyes on the top triples on eBay selling for around $45-55 dollars. Also, the front rotors ($75-110) will need to be purchased but I'm waiting to find a proper mag wheel. Lastly, stem bearings from All Ballz need to be aquired as well.
I do like how IC and Squirley both used a spoked wheel to keep the look of the era, but I am more interested in mags due to the look and they are less prone to rusting here in Hawaii- stainless steel still rusts here. The only problem with mags is finding a matching set that will work on a converted rear swing arm that I want to do in the near future...
Anyhow, here are a few pictures for your enjoyment. I will kick off the conversion beginning in June
