Got another step closer to start up.  Reinstalled the tail light, didn't change anything, and now it works perfectly. ???  Photos don't do it justice, so I'll have to included it in the a video.  Just need to borrow a camera, figure out how to post it, and then post it, and then link it.... ::)

Finished installing the Dyna plug wires, NGK caps, and some wire separators.  Just need to attach some fuel line from a remote tank, and borrow back my sync gauge. ;)  The marks on the pipe(s) are from the alloy clamps during install, and will be removed when I do the final cleanup.

Used a leftover piece from the Monza bung, for the oil pressure gauge mount.  It mounts to the dash with 3mm bolts from the underside.

Also put the finned blue points cover on, to see how it fit in.  Think I like the silver one the best at this point. (haven't finished wires yet in this photo)

Looking good Brian.

Thanks bwaller.

Plan to 'winterize' the 400 next weekend, pull the 750 engine (with human help), and with any luck (well maybe some divine help too ;)), start the 550   The body work is scheduled to be ready next weekend, so there could be lots of neat photos next weekend.

So I found that safe place I had put the alloy drain bolt, and oil line clamp - an other province. ::) :o  Seems they got mailed with some other stuff to bwaller. ;D  Sourced some Helix Racing clear fuel, and drain line, and should have everything for Saturday AM.

here in Indiana we are looking at snow over the weekend, but they are calling for lows in the 30's and highs in the 60"s next week.

Hoping to go pick up part of a parts bike on sun so I can get back on my project soon. it has be dragging on about 2 years now. being a mason I have a hard time getting anything but working and riding when it's nice out.

Off to the shop this morning with a collection of small parts needed for startup.  After many years of silence the 550 is just about ready to announce its rebirth. ;) :)

A couple of small brackets left to make, then time for tuning, and final fitting of the body work.  Assuming of course, its ready as promised for today. ::)

Wow! What a beautiful build so far. I just joined and have been looking through a number of threads, this one is a breed of it's own. Read the whole thread from start to finish...Can't wait to see the gas tank mounted and the finished product.

*Fingers crossed for some videos of her running soon!

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

Ok, its Sunday night and you said the body work would be on this weekend. Don't leave us hanging.
....and final fitting of the body work.  Assuming of course, its ready as promised for today. ::)

Now that my blood pressure has returned to some resemblance of normal. - The Good / the Bad / the Ugly  And to keep my blood pressure lower, I'll deal with the ugly 1st. ;) :)

As the quotes above would indicate the body work was not ready. >:(  The only thing handy to throw was a TransAm, so nothing got thrown. :(  However, it would seem the threat (in a very load voice ;D) of physical harm to both person & property did light a fire.  We'll have to see if it keeps burning. ;)

And then there is the good/bad.  Got my drain bolt back from its safe place in Quebec. ::)  Even returned with a nice new washer, thanks bwaller. :)  Installed it and filled the oil filter.  That was the very good part.  Removed the 3 allen's, swung everything out, undid the filter, filled the filter, installed filter, did up bolts.  Not a drop, and the filter is pre-filled to the brim. ;D ;D  Added the balance of the can to the crank case, and waited to see if the drain bolt leaked.  Installed the Helix Racing clear fuel line, and prepared the clear drain line.  Put the battery on the tender to top up.  No leaks at the drain so added oil to the sump, to prepare to pre-oil before startup.

Now the bad.  Went to crank the engine over, to get oil into it.  Nothing. :(  Double checked that I had all the right things switched on, since mine is not a stock system.  Still nothing.  So off came the headlight, out came the multimeter, and the testing began.  After 3 hours, I know what it isn't. ;) :)  The kill switch / starter button / clutch switch / solenoid / starter all work.  That only leaves the starter relay, which is electronic. ::)  Sent an email to my wiring guru. ;)

Of course you will have noted above, that the solenoid & starter tested OK.  How was that you ask.  Jumped the solenoid straight to the battery (very briefly). 8)  The engine turned over, so I did it twice more for about 5 seconds each.  Must have got some pressure, as the other not so great thing appeared.  Started checking for leaks, could only find one.  Weeping at the washer/bolt that holds the adapter to the engine.  An alloy crush washer instead of the stainless one should fix the problem.  Will have to have a word with my machinist though, about the o-ring that isn't working. ;) :) :)

So, all in all, by far not the best day I've spent on this project, but the reality, is its very close.  Now all I need is for the Keihin gods to cooperate, and not give me any carb issues.
