Well done. I bet the drive home was more relaxed than the last couple weekends.  ;)

Thanks Brent.  The drive was nice.  But only because I decided to not think about the body work. Instead I enjoyed reliving that 1st moment it came back to life.

Thats the best feeling. When the carb cleaning, timing, electrical gremlins, points, and valves all come together and the bike pops to life. Sometimes it seems impossible.

Thanks Scott.  I want to make sure the carbs are sync'd for a video, so you get the best sound.  It will probably have to be outside, to save ear drums. ;)  Just hope I don't have to shovel snow. ::)

Try not to let the bodywork stuff get to you.  It's not under your direct control so stressing about it is a sure way to mess yourself up to no benefit.  You're making progress where you can and the bike is getting closer and closer.  Be proud of what you've done and keep at it, it'll all come together eventually.

About 10 years ago I had a shop tell me that the motor swap for my RX-7 would take 3 weeks and cost $1k.  It took 6 months and they wanted $3500 for the work.

Anyhow, no need to talk about murder.  It would be easier and more moral to just take delivery of the stuff as-is, pay him something reasonable, and take them for finishing to someone who will take your business seriously.

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

I hear ya Tintop, no rush.. As much as I want to hear it run and see it I know you want it to be the best you can get it first. I get that believe me.

Right on Syscrush, I agree 110%. Rushing often leads to regrets, not always but most times.

Worry about the things you can control, and focus on the tasks at hand. If its not working for you, then find some one that will do the work for you. He may have legitimate reasons for the delay and if he does, then he wont mind if you use some else to finish the details on it.

Fabulous work so far from what I can see!!!!

Thanks HedNut, make sure the llamas get one. ;) ;D

The only problem I had was the choke doesn't seems to close all the way.  The cable seems to be about 1/2" to long to get proper adjustment.  Once I got that sorted (temporarily), the sound that followed, would have had people looking at a race track. ;D ;D ;D  Add to that the induction noise from 4 open stacks, and ya 'awesome' would descibe it.  To bad it going to have to have baffels if its ever to see the street. :( ::)

Syscrush & Zaipai, your right of course.  And yes, I've been here before.  When I restored my brother's Elan +2, it took two bodyman/painters to get it done right.  Plus lots more cash.  I've already got someone going there tomorrow to get started, on getting re-started. ::)  Would like to get it sync'd next weekend, and sort out the horn issue.  After that there are enough little tidying jobs to keep me busy for a while.  I have to see what not getting the body work does to my plans.

I gave them a beer and they wouldn't stop singing Rama-llama ding dong. I had to put down Fluffy and Llamachops just to get some sleep....

Hey...you need a llama fur seat for that build!? hahaha :D

Great job again....and I can't wait to hear it.... your description of the sound gives me goosebumps!

So let me get this straight.  1st the great northern llama duet is no more. :(  2nd out of two llamas you only got enough fur for a seat! :o  What did you use, an elephant gun. ;D ;D

Kept thinking 'what would it sound like on a track'?  Shannonville is just down the road, so is Mosport.  May have to do a Track Day next spring, before the baffles go in. ;) :)

I'm looking forward to seeing your project take shape.  Maybe I will just stick my old dented 750K3 tank on it.  It does have a very nice petcock. ;) :)

Two of us reading this thread have already done a track day together without knowing it.  bwaller and I were at the same FAST session at Shannonville.

BTW - FAST = the name of the riding school, it's not the word "fast" in all caps for emphasis.  At least, in my case it isn't.  ;)

The FAST School is more of a race school.  I was thinking more along the lines the a Ducati Club track day.  Besides I hear bwaller isn't exactly slow. ;) :)

Finally a couple of pictures with the body work on.  Paint has been buffed out, still needs final polish.  Used the same camera for photos and video, and everthing is out of focus. ::)

edit: finally managed to retreive some in focus photos from the SD card.

The carb balancer didn't showup before I headed to the shop, and the tank isn't hooked up.  1 & 4 are pulling strong, but 2 & 3 aren't.  So the engine is running on 3 1/2 cylinders.  There's a vibration rattle somewhere :D, and at the beginning, and about 30 seconds you can see the name in Kanji ghosted on the tank.  Once things are sync'd, I'll do another, its short, but this will give you a taste.  Enjoy. ;) ;D ;D

Its in the ditches with all the idiot SUV drivers. ;)  Actually the best one was a Jetta that didn't make the turn at the end of an off ramp.  Goes straight; there is a ditch with a berm on the other side, frontend on berm, backend on shoulder.  Wheels 2 feet in the air, with the driver sitting there, door open looking way down. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
