Congratulations on a great showing!   8) 8) 8)   You have created a very lovely bike and I can't wait to see it in person later this summer when hopefully a number of us can get together.  In the meantime, have a safe trip home...and between the snow squalls today, watch out for the groundhogs. ;)

Tintop do you like your front fairing i have been looking at one for about a year now but am on the fence about it i like that's its small. do you just have it mounted to the head light mounts? does it vibrate much while at speed?

thanks

Can't tell you how it behaves at speed Roach, as bike has only been started, too much snow to ride it.  It came from Airtech, their Thruxton fairing (in the vintage section).

Didn't get to ride it P_Camps, except out to the trailer for loading, only have a title (& no helmet with me), will be getting a plate when I get home.

Thanks HondahutRider.  I'm on the last leg tomorrow.  They shut down I80 at Chicago, so I stopped in Princeton IL.  Good thing, because I hit black ice just before I got off.  Truck got a bit sideways, but the trailer pull it straight.  Stopped counting accidents when the truck # went by 15.  And that was back in Iowa!  Probably twice that number of trucks, and an equal number of cars.

Well, 9137km later, I am finally back home. ;D  What an experience, and one I would encourage any member to undertake.

While I didn't win my class, getting this made it more than worth while. ;) :)

Many thanks to all those who have supported, encouraged, and offered criticism (both positive and otherwise ;)) of my build.  Without the wealth of knowledge available here, it would not have been possible.  As we all know, these builds are never truly 'finished', and I will continue to refine Speed Warrior as time goes on.  That said, I have had 4 days driving home, to plan the next build. ;)

Dam you, Do you know what you started by bringing that bike to that show?
A bud and I attended the GNRS this year, my first time; he has been there a few. We were walking about Friday and spotted that dam bike of yours. I think I took about 100 pictures of it. Drooled over it and checked it out the best I could (dam velvet ropes). To tell you the truth I fell in love with it. I am now on the hunt for one, found a few ok 750’s to start with.  I have a feeling I am going to fall deep into this, and now that I have found this site, the information is there for me. Just need to read up, pick up a bike and go to town. Hope you don’t mind but there are a few pictures of your bike on some other forums.  It even won picture of the week or some dam thing.

So in short, it’s your entire fault.
And that’s what I am telling my wife…

Inspiration comes from many places.  A lot of what went into this build came from my life long association with vintage sports & racing cars.  After being in CA, and at the show, the next build will certainly draw inspiration from what I saw there.

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

+1 Syscrush.  It makes me wonder what others who stopped, looked, and took photos, will be thinking when they look at them again.  I certainly got lots of ideas, and photos for a build. ;) ;) :)

People were using digital cameras of every size & shape.  ffj had a very trick one. ;) :)  If they didn't have one of those, it was cell phones!  Everywhere you went, there was inspiration.  I posted a short 'trip log' in the air filter thread (http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=79491.300).  It was really great to meet up with ffj, and get to put a face to a forum member.  A well spent, very enjoyable afternoon, crusing the exihibits.  Meeting Chris at the show was also great, and his class win was with a really nice bike.  Some truly rare, and unique parts on it. :o

You gonna do a proper glamor photoshoot for that bike at some point, Tinner?

I got a call from Cycle Canada some time after I finished Debs bike. A guy we spoke to on a ride one day contacted them. One of the editors came out and took all the info and shot a bunch of pictures for the magazine. At that point they were always looking for bikes for the "showcase" section.

If it's something you're interested in I can send en e-mail.

PS: Why is it in a sea of old Harley's that the Honda is the only bike with a drip pan under it,could it be that you meet more considerate people on a Honda?

Sorry I missed it.  The drip pan remark was hilarious.

To be honest, I assumed it was a mirror to show off the sparkly clean underside and maybe some of the remote oil filter mount stuff...

maybe the harleys don't have enough oil in them to leak, they don't have to be ridable, they only have to start.
