No you are correct about that. We have no laws here, not that people don't want them however being this is where HD's are built I don't believe a law like that would get passed here any time soon. Well toss up another vid, once they are in. I for one would like to hear the difference. I love those exhaust pipes, I would get those next fall when I start buying parts again however I don't have the ability/tools to make em fit so nice..

Awhile back Mick asked if I was going to do a 750.  The answer was yes, two actually.  A fairly stock K3, and the 550 cafe's big brother.  I plan on starting a build thread for both shortly, but here's the basics.

The K3 with get a 76 GL front end (didn't have one ), with Progressive springs, Voxonda pre-load adjusters, and 750 rim.  The disks have already been refinished / drilled.  Now it's pretty much refinish / rebuild / replace  the stock parts.  Set of Frankenstuff side covers, and a replacement tank to paint.  Came with a 4-1, not sure if I'll use it, or look for something else.  Also came without a seat or gauges, so those need replacing.  A DIY, I would like to have on the road by summer.

As for the 550's big brother.  It will use the 750 version the Curtis monoshock frame that will also be used in the 550 race bike.  The front end will be CBX600R (09), with a wire wheel if possible.  The engine will be 1000cc, using a JMR billet barrel, and JE pistons.  It will of course get all the other usual upgrades ($$'s ) so progress will likely be somewhat slow.   I also haven't decided on induction, but think FI might be worth a serious look.

As for the 550.  It's currently in storage, while I decide what / if anything, to do with the paint.  Have also decided on a baffle design.  Going to use the plate idea from the video Frankenstuff posted.  With some modifications to suit my pipes.  I'm also going to contact a person I met in Pomona about doing something that would slip in.

You're not gonna spiff up the fork internals?

What's a CBX600R?  Do you mean CBR600RR?  Or CB600?  Or something else?

And a wire wheel is possible - anything's possible, it's all just metal.

Their getting the Progressive springs, and pre-load adjusters.  Not concerned with compression dampening given the GL forks were setup for a heavier bike.

typo - CBR600.  A wire wheel may not work because of clearance issues between the calpiers and spokes.

I looked into FI as an alternative to Webers when I built the 2nd engine for the 7.  Given the bike will get a custom tank, fitting an in tank fuel pump would be easy.  However that decision is quite a ways away yet.

I was looking ate the tank sealer from Caswell to. Any suggestions on using this product would be appreciated. Bruce

I called the manufacturer to confirm that it was an adhesive that would work for bonding the alloy parts (plate, bung, Monza cap) to the steel tank.  Was assured that it would do this no problem.  Did make sure that all the bonding surfaces on the steel tank were clean down to the raw metal.  Also masked off the tank to prevent any getting on the fresh paint. 

They suggest that you mix up the entire contents, however I only used 1/2.  To get the right ratio I used a clear graduated paint mixing container.  Still had tons left over, which wasn't used!  I don't think you can mix it in much smaller quantities accurately though.  I used a small paint brush to apply it to the areas where needed.  All the pieces were than tpaed down to hold their positions until the epoxy cured.

Hi all, epoxy's are not an exact science, you can have either a little too much hardener or a little less, less will make it cure slower and more will make it go off faster. I have been working with epoxy for a long time now and i mix roughly by eye, no failures at all....

Agreed Mick, however I needed to be sure I was going to get a normal, or slightly slow cure.  Too many pieces to fit together and align to risk it going off too quickly.

Haven't posted to the thread for a while, and had some changes made, and some news.  1st to come back is the seat / cowl.  Had some old school pin stripping added.  I've been thinking about doing this ever since coming back from CA.  Decided to go for it when I saw the pictures of Paulages old tank.   I'm also re-doing the fairing with a different graphic.  Pic's of that in a couple of days.  There is a show coming up (2 weeks), that is only 40 minutes away.  So I figured while its still clean I'll show it once more, and change a couple of things.

Rear cowl with its new, old school pin stripping (still needs to be re-polished).  Freshly done today, by John "Mask" Maschke in Guelph.
