SOHC4 #208 checking in
« on: April 25, 2010, 09:12:41 AM »
Hi folks,

Hope all is well and that some of the old SOHC4 list members are still around. My 1976 CB750F (purchased new) is still in my garage, although I must confess that she hasn't turned a wheel in a couple of years.  Every year, I am torn. Do I go through and clean the carbs, maybe clean the calipers if they are sticking and ride her some more, or do I sell. I dunno.

Welcome...but to ride or not to ride will be your decision. It is a shame to keep that cool vintage piece of history hidden away in the garage. You have to ask yourself will you miss it...especially if you sell it and the new owner has it running and looking great as he rides past you. Can you handle that? Then again if you are out of the cycle scene and not interested then sell it to someone who will do the right thing and get this piece of history back on the road. There are plenty of guys on this board who will do that for you...and give it a good home. Good luck with your decision...

Yeah, I know it is my decision, and I struggle with it. I ride an R1200GS these days and it fits me well and does everything I want a bike to do. OTOH, it is not the bike I rode in my 20s. So, I dunno....

Hi Bob,

Welcome back ;). I remember you from the old mailing list. I am still in Boston so if you decide to sell the F let me know...could be interested.

Welcome back Bob!

I remember you from the list days. I'd keep it around and keep it running, ride it every so often, it's the least you could do! ;)

Pay no attention to the 2 CB's rotting in my garage, nor the fact I can't seem to find the time to resuscitate them, but am trying to before summer is gone.

Hi guys!

Good to see a familiar name.

The decision to keep it would be easier if I had a nice Handy bike lift, as I don't enjoy crouching down on the floor working on my bikes that much anymore, and this one will need a carb clean, perhaps caliper rebuilds, etc., before being ridable.

Hello Bob, nice to see you back.

Excellent sage advice from both Johnie and Gonzowerke.  And no better home waiting than Andy's perhaps in the future!

Anyway, as long as the bike is properly preserved you can still take your time and decide what to do.

I would pull her outside, give her a scrub, spend some time together. Think about where you have both been, and where you might still go together.
