So it is settled. I want to have a bike with a kick. I am leaning towards a Yamaha XS650. Sorry guys!

Heresy here  ;) but I always like the lines of the XS650 myself.

well if that damn cb650 had a kicker I would have stuck with that! But now I am considering a kz650 or a xs650. I have a few bikes to test ride to figure out what will suit my needs...

I have not tried this first hand.  And, I don't have any 650s.  But, I thought I read posts on this forum where it is possible to put the CB550 Kick starter mechanism on the CB650 unit.

Was this a halucination?  Was I misinformed?     ???

Anything is possable if you want to spend the time or money.  I dont think it would be practical.
I havent looked close at a 550 and would like to see myself if it would work but its not hi on the priority list right now.
