your plan looks good jay, i have always just done rows and rotated crops through them as the seasons go. spring,summer and fall plantings. stuff like cukes and berrys, and the asparagus have always had thier own spots. best thing i did was get a chipper shredder, all the waste from the garden and fall leaves gets ground and goes back into the garden.

only had 2 cold nights here. only about 1 week or so then moving some cloned roses and Habanero inside.

Long time, no posts.. Getting to be Spring in the PNW, rebuilt my retaining wall, turned the garden soil over and reset my chives and iris, getting ready to separate and spread the dahlias

Got a foot of snow yesterday was riding today. Gotta love march and warm days.
I turned the dirt in my 2 raised beds that are getting sun, the other 3 in shade are still frozen.

Going to be 70 by the weekend.

I have a few things started.

I've still got at least 6" snow but it ay be gone the end of the week if weather report is right so now we plant inside to try out the new green house and hopefully every thing works.

As an update on Saturday and Sunday we had a plant sale (seedlings) and sold out every last plant, 800 plants or so.
There will be a bunch of heirloom veg grown around here I know that we couldn't have done it without the help of our daughters moving plants and manning the tables. Humping 800-1200 plants in and out of the little green house is a killer, next year it will be different (better equipment, better idea how to organize it) anyhow that aspect of the Great Experiment is over for this year thank the minor dieties it just about killed us off we were both sick with some sort of respiratory plague any how more on veg later.

I prefer wildlife to stay out of my vineyard, they can't do much good there

Kookaburras. There's only this one that will stand on my arm. A group of up to eight visit daily.

Kookaburras are one of the best birds you can have hanging around, we have a family of 6 that live down the bottom of our block. They have a taste for snakes and are great at keeping them away, I even had one pinch a rubber snake I had sat in the veggie patch to keep the birds away.

OK guys nothing quite like peas eaten off the vine or for dinner that only takes 5 minutes, picked shelled and into the pot and then buttered Aah, our peas starting to come in the carrots are ready although they are kind of furry but tasty our little lettuces self seeded from last year, so fresh Asparagus fresh lettuce fresh radishes and we've sold kale and chard to one of the local chefs now if the weather will cooperate we're going to have a good year. How's every one else doing veg wise ? Now if every thing pans out I'll have a ceiling on my little shop so I'll be able to work on my bikes over the winter, Hallelujah.

well, we've had rain for 17 or 47 days straight. But, our gardens haven't drowned and I pulled and excellent crop of weeds this afternoon. Squash out our ears, taters alright. Tomatoes might have blossom end rot again...Corn looking like it will make some ears, peas looking good. (I found a lot of these under the weeds.....

Friend at church indicated they are having problems with deer devouring their garden. They have eaten the tomato plants to half their height and eaten the tomatoes. The peas and potatoes haven't fared well either for them, the deer yes. They haven't caught the deer in the garden but they are sinking about 6 inches into the ground and hoof prints are about 4 inches long. Big deer.

RAF, there is a natural deer repellant that works, hunt for it at your garden supply. It smells like rotten eggs and dead buzzards. My first repellant of choice is a 7mm magnum.

While they would prefer to drop them and eat them, they can't do so with neighbors houses and property nearby...
They were sprinkling cayenne pepper on some of the plants the other day when a big frog was seen amongst the plants...

I went on a killing spree today - with Sevin and a sprayer. Japanese beetles got really bad at the vineyard, I had to do something.

They can eat leaves to just webbing, those bustards.
