Silverado 4x4
« on: May 08, 2010, 06:52:05 PM »
I've been telling myself for a while that I need a pickup truck. There's no way I could afford a new one so I've been keeping my eyes open for a nice used one. Well today I ran across a 1990 Chev Silverado 1500 4x4 std. cab long bed.On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give it a high 8 or maybe even a 9. It's that nice inside and out. The owner bought it in 1994 with 34000 miles and it only has 88000 on it now. This guy has baby this truck , recently putting new  tires on it, compete tune up, new radiator, and  battery. Truck was painted about four years ago and still looks good. Engine is the 5.7 v8. He's come off the price some, but he want budge below $5800. Yeah I know he's wanting top dollar for it, but again it's a very nice truck that's been taken care of. This price is about $800 to $900 more than I was wanting to spend, but man it's a nice truck!! I do not have any pictures right now, sorry. Any Chevrolet people out there. Is $5800 just to much for this truck, maybe I should walk away. The owner said he would hold it for me until tomorrow.

just for more info,

Last year I bought a 94 silverado (granted it has 134,000 miles) that is very nice inside and out and well cared for.  It is extended cab with the 5.7.   I only paid $3,500 here in Indiana and that was with the camper shell.  I would think you could get a very clean, well-taken-care-of truck for much less than $5,800 that will do everything you need a truck to do.  Just sayin'

check at the rear of the intake manifold for oil leaks, thats the only real problem area i know of on those.

Doesnt Indiana use  salt in the winter? Some of NC probably doesnt.  Is it rust free? Since its been painted , why? Get under that thing for 5800 and look around.

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!
