Is this exhuast special?
« on: May 07, 2010, 10:16:29 AM »
I was told by someone that they were and when they pop up on ebay, they fetch a high price.  I cant find anything about them.  I'm mostly interested in getting them out of my shed but I would like to get a fair price for them if they are worth anything.

I've run across a few sets like that.  Nothing really special though.  What are they for?

They came with my 550 but someone told me they were for a 500.  I like the look and may have used them but the flanges on the ends of the headers are so small that the collars hardly catch them.  I was going to weld on a lip but I just bought a MAC 4-1 instead.

The MAC 4 into 2 set on my 72 350f doesnt affect the use & function of the cntr stand but the stand will hit & rub the bottom of mufflers when its raised. cured with a 1" pc of square tube welded to the bottom of the brake stop arm that works like a spacer / stop...

When they "fit the 550" you mean the pipes ahead of the muffler were parralel to the frame?

Its been a while but I believe so.  I do remember that the spacing for the exhaust ports is spot on.  They are different, no?

Take a look at your bike..do the pipes come STRAIGHT out? or are they ANGLED like the ones shown??
I am not saying they did not fit in the ports but doubt they were flat against the sealing surface.

Now look at the pipes shown in pic from the side, does there appear to be a 10 degree angle from the pipe were it exits head (up to first bend).. when you compare it to the lower (under the frame) section.
