we are ok though.....managed to slow down enough to "bump "  the second deer that  HAD to cross the road,   bade the bars wobble, and the three of us,  ( the deer, bike and myself)   continued on our way.............lucky, lucky lucky!!! :-* :-* :-*

Same reason the Aussies don't ride at night, too many kangaroos. ;D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

lucky one,the biggest thing ive hit in a car was a 4 ft roo,i was doing 140klms and hit it smack on dead centre of the car,a late 70s valiant, the roo went under and came out the back like an exploded pillow!the fan was through the radiator ,a few weeks later a mate on a cx500 hit one and bent his forks backwards,he didnt get hurt just broke his wristwatch.on the bikes ive only hit big butterflys.

Really? When I was training with your army in some joint thing they were all about driving humvees over giant packs of dingos day or night!  ;D

Glad you are okay. The last member to hit a deer didn't walk away so lucky!

That's always on my mind when I ride - especially at night.  I see deer all the time.  Almost ran over a raccoon on the bike the other night.

Glad you came out okay.  Fellow recently died near home on his bike in northern Israel after hitting a wild boar.

Really gotta watch for the critters, especially around first and last light.

this is one of the reasons i dont often ride at night. i've hit deer with cars 3 times in the past 11 years, almost got killed the first one when i nailed a huge buck in my 86 lincoln towncar at 65mph. i lost some acquaintances last year to deer collisions. young couple that had 3 kids under the age of 10.

Speaking of close calls....yesterday came within inches of hitting a fox at 60mph on a very, very busy 2 lane.
Whew!  ???

Two of my biggest riding fears......getting rear-ended and hitting a deer. They are all over here.
