Want to have the oil reservoir incorporated into the swingarm :o :o ;D
It will hold 2 litres of oil, so will add more by adding an extra oilfilter hidden under the engine plus an oilcooler up front:)
 




Anyone know what to use to seal an alloy tank?

Yes I am:) But just in case? Hot oil penetrates if there is any holes..:) Was thinking of a tank sealer or radiator sealer, but not sure if it sticks to alloy, end resists hot oil??`

have you considered using a fuel tank sealer?  i know they make some epoxy based ones and others like the Kreem brand...  i know that if you have hot oil it will easily penetrate a small hole in aluminum.  maybe do a pressure test first with the swingarm underwater to try to find any pores?  that's a good start

My Friend who helps me out with the welding is a professional welder, he does it for a living:) But wants a sealer just in case.. Think I will run standard oil? You think it matter?

After all, oil is the enemy of most coatings....

i agree with RR, oil seems to eat away everything it touches over time, especially when it's hot.  if you can magnaflux the part, you can be doubly sure there's no pinholes, but that's just the engineer talking in me  ;D ;D


as to the standard vs. synthetic, that's a long winded debate with no apparent winner.  i'm a dealer for Amsoil, and I only run it in my newer bikes since their sealing capabilities are newer and better.  synthetic has a "nice" ability to seep where you didn't think it could, because it does it's job so well, that it can flow out even between gaskets torqued properly.  just run a good synthetic blend designed for motorcycles and you'll have the best of both worlds.  will you run an oil cooler bypass?

Plan is to run an oil cooler bypass upfront, a bigger spin on oilfilter there and an extra oilfilter located under the swingarm to add extra capacity on the return line:) That should give me enough capacity??

i would hope so!!   :D :D  have you considered maybe upping the size of your lines as well?  with a bigger ID on your oil lines, you could squeeze just a bit more in there.  and i take it there's no deeper oil pans out there for these old girls, since it's a dry sump huh?
