It is more about fab work. I sold all my stock parts to finance the build.

Just subscribing and wanted to say stick with it, once the big things are done and visually it starts really coming together all the sudden you will find your self with a list of ten small things to do and then things start happening fast. Until the last thing that kicks your ass in the list, but that is another story. Hang in there mate.

I spent some time moving the suspension brackets around to get a better stance. Basically I tried to lock into the form more. Nothing is bolted in, just tack welded.

Here is the stance. Everything is just balancing. That isnt the front wheel i am going with. I love the look but there is ZERO space for the dual discs.

Just wanted to post that I did my front end swap back in 2004 and wish I knew about this forum back then. I have been poking around to see how others have dealt with the front wheel/axle. BEARINGS. I made a whole new freaking axle. I should have just switched the bearings. Research people!!! Dont dive into a project and think that you are inventing the wheel. Dont think that if another guy did something than it MUST be easy. Learn from my mistake.....research, learn, and ask for advise. (I will never do this) This forum is the balls.

I am building a cowl for Frankenbike, here are some shots of the progress. It is in the very roughed out form right now. I still need to wheel out the other side. Then I will weld it all up and grind everything down followed by a dusting of filler here and there and it will be ready to ship.

My face hurts from sitting here just smiling looking at those pics. I am very excited. That cowl has been on my mind since the start of the project. FYI since I saw your thread with the CX500 I have been checking craigslist for one in my area. All are reasonably priced but havent founf one with less than 30K miles. Last one had 67K. People sure like riding them.

well the cx has a great motor with a very bad stator. Upgrading fixes that then they will jut go and go. Couriers used them in Europe as delivery/ messenger bikes and it is not unheard of to here of them having 150k miles and still be going with out ever needing a rebuild. The motor has loads of character too IMO and actually makes for a better street bike because the power comes in earlier then a comparable cb 550 or 500. I have a feeling there is more ponies to be gained by just letting the cx breathe too as well vs a cb. The downside is they are much more difficult to cafe well. The cb series just seems to cafe easy style wise and the cx if you noticed I had to cut before I felt like the frame looked right. Obviously judging by your bike that wouldn't be an issue for you. Also the cx's haven't been sought after like cb's and are cheaper to get decent ones. The one I cafed had 33k miles so I would worry too much about that.

Well in the future I would charge about $150 for something similar. Still took entirely too much time to even make money at that price, but I love it so sometime I can be convinced to do it for less

. That's probably why I will never be rich. I like to be fair with people and also help them out. I need to figure out a better/faster way of making these things.

Thats how it started with my covers. First I made a set for myself....then Terry from Australia send a dwarf with a briefcase full of $5 bills and a note that said "the island isnt done with you"...and now i am the plastic cover guy. So watch out cornanp because YOU are the new cafe aluminum seat guy. Benji can go suck it. (sorry benji, big upps) seriously though he would sell that same seat for...$400.

I like the Budwieser in my tummy. There is another pic where I had used the can right where the jack is supporting. In true Yankee engineering shade tree mechanic style....I use whatever is within reach. That was a hot day. I envy all of you sonsa beetches that have a garage!!

My gastank question was for the ATC70 I am working on. (ATC70 basketcase in this forum) I used the epoxy as a tank sealer (pinholes galore) worked great. I hate glass. I will post some pics of the first part and the mold.

I haven't done any "standard" fibreglassing for a while.we only use epoxy's at work. If you have the right epoxy you can just about seal anything....Good to hear it worked..

This is what I got done this past weekend.
Started to modify my custom cornandp seat cowl. He did a great job and made a seat cowl that fit right onto my frame (sight unseen, he used a template and it fits like a glove) It was ready to paint in the condition he sent it, but I.....got carried away with a louver idea. My electronics are going into the tail and I thought some airflow would keep it cool. So louvers are roughed into place. will try to smooth out tomorrow. I am thinking brown leather seat cover, and a few well placed aluminum rivets. Any suggestions?

Yes that is welding wire holding the exhaust on. Temporarily.

Some Franken shag nasty welds. My first time with a gas MIG. I will NEVER go back to that 110v flux core crap.
