I just bought a Ducati GT1000 spoked rear wheel.....for short money.
I was planning on running with the streetbike wheel but, couldnt pass up on the deal.
Am I a frigging poet or what?

The leverage for those shocks is all wrong, you need a triangulated frame on top of the swingarm to mount them off for better suspension rates..

Not stiff enough? You could do some thing like Godffreys CB550 dual shock setup..

I had to set the tension all the way...and it was still a bit loosey, so....I put about 2 inches of RTV into the chrome housing to stiffen the spring. I sold the setup on ebay to a guy in Texas about 6 years ago. Anyone on the forum ever see it come up?

Well I just got the rear axle for the Ducati wheel. So next I need to mill the front Harley hub down, machine up a couple plates for the front wheel to accept the ZX12R rotors, machine the Yamaha rear axle slides to accept the Ducati axle...I will post pics.

I am also going to dive back into modifying the seat cowl again. I want to raise the "bump" up about an inch or so. No more welding...I am going to use some sweet sweet rivets.

Andrew...I am Franking with the seat cowl again...The hole that I made got fixed.....but I decided to try and raise the bump a bit. I should stick with plastics. $:-\$ Thing is custom as hell now.

Essentially- I should NOT have messed with it. Just painted and put on. I am taking pics of my progress and will post this weekend. I think I should put away the hammer and get an english wheel.

the small one from harbor freight is cheap an works well right out of the box. It takes some time and patience to use though.

I found an old notebook with all my chicken scratch first ideas for this bike. I am going to edit and do a redo of this thread in a more time line type manner.

I am starting to regret going with the Ducati rear wheel. #1 EVERYTHING Ducati is mad money ($50 for the rear axle with titanium nut)!!
#2 I went with a 180 rear tire and it it throwing all of the proportions off on the bike. I hevent fitted it into the swingarm...but dang its gonna be close.
#3 I just got an aluminum rear fender from Kustomworks. It is going to be made into a hugger style fender....it too is frigging HUGE.

My poor leetle 550 is gonna KA- PUTT
